Per the Practical Sailor's review of the Beneteau 311: "She has a plumb bow, reverse transom, rounded bilges, and sloping cabintop. Mike Thoney of Beneteau USA describes the boat as being “designed to be easy to handle as a fast, contemporary, performance cruiser. The target market for the boat is younger families, and older sailors moving to smaller boats...
The 311’s hull is solid fiberglass reinforced by an internal grid system of beams and stringers. A monocoque approach is taken to the installation of bulkheads, which are bonded 360 degrees to the hull and deck."
Water tank, fuel tank, and holding tank are poly.

The 32" stainless steel wheel offers the Helmsman the opportunity to steer while seated or standing, and the cockpit can comfortably seat 6 on the bench seating which lines the perimeter of the cockpit. The seating area is covered with teak strips upon which removable upholstered cushions can be set. The seating on the transom is removable, and when removed provides a walkway onto the swim step and provides access to the rudder post. A deep cockpit locker under the starboard side bench seating provides a good amount of storage. A dodger/spray hood provides shelter while underway, and cockpit cover is also included but not currently installed.
The galley lies immediately to port upon entering the cabin by the companionway ladder. The galley consists of a 2 burner propane cooktop and oven, counterspace, a stainless steel sink, and storage. Stores and cutlery can be stored in two cabinets or in a lift up compartment underneath the counter.
The saloon lies forward of the galley. Seating to port and starboard with a fold-up table in the center makes into a settee that can seat six, or sleep two.
A small nav station / chart table and breaker panels lies just aft of the starboard side seating. A refrigerator lies underneath the chart table.
The head compartment lies aft of the helm station. The head consists of a wash basin, marine toilet, shower, storage, and an opening port light.
