The rudder on Sabres are known to often have a problem such that there are mild steel tangs welded to the stainless rudder shaft – all of which is embedded within the rudder in foam and always wet or at least damp; the welds (between dissimilar metals) suffer from corrosion and are prone to break. Such a failure whilst sailing could lead to a very serious incident.
The rudder on this boat was split open last winter (2011-2012), the mild steel tangs were removed and replaced by stainless steel ones by a local marine welder. The rudder was epoxied back together and finally a layer of glass cloth epoxied onto the whole rudder.

Broker's Comments
A sabre 27 in generally good condition overall with room for improvement, engine is original but runs like a champ, hull looks good with a couple of small gelcoat repairs, top sides about the same as the hull.
Interior wise its time to get the sewing machine out, knock up a few covers and the boat will be transformed. There are a couple of bits of headlining to replace and thats about it. Sails are good and usable and everything works apparently.
These boats are a great family starter for not much money and pretty capable. Owner retiring from sailing hence the sale.
These boat details are subject to contract.
