Featuring a dependable low hr Cummins 6 cylinder power plant, she also has a 1997 35 hp Perkins wing engine with max prop. This engine has never been needed for its primary purpose but does make a fine trolling engine when you're after the big Chinooks in Alaska. She is very easy to handle when you get back to the dock with her bow thruster and large rudder!
She also has a large 8.5 kw Northern Lights generator with only 1200 hrs (approximately) on the legendary and durable Lugger engine!

Lord Nelson Tugs feature solid fiberglass hulls and decks, heavily built with over eleven layers of glass from the keel to 6" above the waterline and seven layers above that. She was one of the first yachts to use iso-vynlester resin for increased strength and to prevent hull blisters. Her Full displacement hull was inspired by the Maine lobster boats known for their sea worthiness and easily-driven efficiency. She has a full-length ballasted keel for stability and to protect her prop and rudder. She has a total fuel capacity of 1100 gallons in 5 tanks, with one tank currently dedicated to cleaner burning kerosene for the heating system.

You board a Lord Nelson through her high safe bulwarks by means of convenient dockside bulwark doors on either side. Entering through beautiful double doors brings you to the stunning aft saloon. The interior design is that of a luxury yacht from another era. Taking full advantage of her 16' 8" beam, this is a remarkably large space for entertaining or just living aboard in comfort. Featuring an exquisite teak and holly sole and fine cabinetry throughout she has a very warm yet sophisticated elegance.
A large wrap-around settee to port features a beautiful teak convertible table. To starboard is a full-height display/entertainment cabinet and two very comfortable chairs with ottomans for lounging or a good read.
From the saloon you proceed forward on the same level to the large and well equipped u-shaped galley. Designed for long durations away from the dock she features a large pantry, separate top-loading reefer and freezer (just serviced and recharged), a four-burner gas range with oven and a microwave. There is ample storage for both kitchenware and food, and counter space that rivals most large home kitchens. There are places for both an ice maker and trash compactor if a new owner desired these appliances. The sea-going chef will be pleased to create inspired meals in this wonderful galley without being separated from family and guests!
You continue forward and down four steps... To starboard is the day head for guests and here also is the ship's laundry with washer/dryer. From here you enter the remarkable owners cabin. Featuring over 7ft of headroom, its located amidships making this a a very comfortable place in a seaway. Having the full 16 ft beam to work with makes this stateroom very spacious while still incorporating a walk around queen berth, built-in seating and even a writer's desk. With the same exquisite cabinetry as seen in throughout this vessel, she has ample storage for long distance cruising or live aboard. A wonderful touch here is the full-height bookcase that swings open to reveal the walk in engine room -- very clever yet practical.
Proceeding back to the saloon head forward and up to the nerve center of this massive yacht, her command bridge! Large enough to include a seperate captain's cabin with Pullman berth and hanging locker, she also features a beautiful settee and table for guests to join the Captain on the bridge while underway. In keeping with her working tug roots the visibility from the helm is superb out her large wraparound windows. There is also a separate nav station. From the helm you can exit out either side through her large dutch doors to the side decks when needed. A curved staircase forward leads to the guest cabin. Large enough to be the owner's quarters on lesser yachts, this en suite cabin features a queen berth, built-in seating and plenty of hanging lockers and drawers to make your guests comfortable.

The most important safety feature of this world capable yacht is her rugged construction and design. With an almost 17 ft beam, full keel and active stabilizers she can handle seas that have other yachts racing for port! While it has never happened to any of these very safe sea-going yachts it is nice to know that tank tests have shown Lord Nelson Tugs to be self righting from a full 90 degree knockdown!
Commentaires du Broker
Superlatives are difficult to avoid with this remarkable vessel. Displacing over 70,000 lbs loaded she is really more of a small ship than a large yacht. She manages to be both rugged and elegant, and completely avoids looking like a modern plastic yacht!!
The present owners purchased her new after much research -- they wanted the perfect vessel to take them and their many children to Alaska safely, comfortably and repeatedly. They had researched other quality boats including Nordhavns, Kadey-Krogens, and Grand Banks and then discovered the Lord Nelson 49! They where fortunate to find one that had just been built and in like new condition. Over twenty years later and after many trips to Alaska they still believe they made the right choice and would buy her again!
Maintained continuously by her knowledgeable owners she has benefited from an ongoing professional maintenance program her entire life. She is immediately ready to take you anywhere in the world you want to go.
One of only eight built she is reluctantly for sale. This truly is a rare opportunity to acquire such a capable and well-kept example of this timeless tug design.
