The long keel has a bronze centre plate within that increases the draft from 3ft 8" to 6ft 3".
The Wood Carvel hull has oak frames with teak planking below the waterline and mahogany planking above the waterline. Fastened with bronze fastenings.
The decks are canvas sheathed with non-slip paint; the decks were re-sheathed in 2006.
